Lives in a house a very big house in the country

You may recall my house in southern France blog from earlier this year. I know this isn't really feasible but I still like to keep the dream alive. Would it be more feasible if we were to locate our dream home in Australia??? After a fantastic weekend in Lostock I asked the question how much do you think a place like this would cost? A few figures were bandied about, figures that gave me a ray of hope. Maybe a rustic place in the hunter was within reach, especially if a few committed individuals chipped in. I did the Math. Any guesses as to how much a few acres in the upper hunter would cost?

I just visited a farm that the Regent College community purchased on Galliano Island in the Gulf off Vancouver. About 15 years ago, a Regent Prof had a vision (not the prophetic kind, but in actuality, maybe it was) that there was a need for a place for the Regent community to be able to escape too. To make it happen, he and his wife sold their house in Vancouver and formed a co-op with other Regent professors to jointly own the farm (as there was no way they could buy it themselves). It's an incredible place of hospitality, rest, contemplation, beauty and getting back to nature and getting ones hands dirty. We pulped a whole bunch of apples, some straight off the trees to make the most incredible apple cidar with nothing added - we miss out drinking the supermarket friendly variety. We really felt blessed by our weekend there. There is something so good about a Co-Op (quite common in Canada), where people 'co-operate' together for a shared purpose or vision, that probably could not be achieved by a single party. It reminds me of Jesus words in Matthew 18 ... "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven."
